If you don't know of the title/name of a specific newspaper, sometimes doing a search online for newspapers + the state, city, or country can direct you to good leads:

The Library of Congress has their U.S. Newspaper Directory, which holds information from 1690-present. It can be another place to start.

If you already know the title of the newspaper you are wanting to search through, they may have an online website where you can read the material online. If you run into paywalls, you could try placing an interlibrary loan for the material. We might also have access to the newspaper through one of our databases. Learn how to tell here.

Through the TCC Library holdings, you can find full-text newspapers within the U.S. and from around the world via the online database of newspapers called Newspaper Source Plus (EBSCOhost). Follow the steps below to access the article database directly:

  1. Go to the library's website.
  2. Select Articles & Databases and search for it in the first field or filter by Type to "News & Newspapers" to find it on the list.
  3. To find newspapers published in a specific place, try using the place as a keyword. Once you find a result, Google or use an online search engine to verify the location of the publisher.

Please note that you will be prompted to log into MyTCC to search the databases if you are not already logged in.
