An "issue" of a periodical (magazine or journal, for example) will likely be split up into indexed articles in our databases by issue number, volume, and year. Print issues of a periodical are sometimes organized/bound into volumes (a book, essentially) in other libraries. We may have a few print back issues from past subscriptions ourselves but we do not bind them in to volumes at TCC. When searching for back issues, you will need to start with finding the periodical by title itself to browse. However, if you have the article title already you can also search for that via title directly in the Discovery Catalog search.

There are two places to find a back issue of a specific magazine or journal title to browse in our library:

  • Search the library's catalog with the periodical title. If a campus library has the periodical in its collection, the catalog's record will list the date range of the issues available in print format. Or, if it is online it will present links on where to access if we have access. This video (no audio) shows how to search the catalog for a periodical title to see the coverage in databases:

  • For an online copy of the journal, you can also search Search for a Journal under Articles & Databases. It will only list the TCC’s subscribed online databases that have the journal in its collection.
