Penalties for Overdue Hotspots and Laptops
Hotspots and laptops are considered overdue if they are not renewed or returned to the Metro Campus Library by the end-of-semester due date
The penalties for overdue devices are as follows:
- Replacement fees will be added to the student's account by the Bursar Office.
- If the student's balance owed reaches $300.00 or more, an enrollment hold will be placed on the student's account, which will prevent them from enrolling in classes or making schedule changes.
- Service to the student's hotspot will be shut off.
Replacement fees are, but are not limited to the following:
- Laptop - up to $635.00
- Laptop Charging Cable - $35.00
- Hotspot - up to $140.00
- Hotspot Charging Cable - $15.00
Any and all replacement fees the student has accrued must be paid in full before the student may renew or check out another device.
Failure to pay replacement fees may result in a monthly interest charge of 1.5% and a late charge of $50 if not paid prior to the end of the semester. If this account is not paid in full it may be referred to the Oklahoma Tax Commission for a warrant intercept of your State Tax refund. It will also be placed with an external collection agency and you will be assessed collection costs (up to 33%), legal costs, and attorney fees. If placed with an external collection agency it will be reported to all three credit bureaus.
