See below for some recommendations after this brief overview!

Our Discovery catalog and many of our databases have psychology journal content. The catalog searches through a lot of our databases all at once. Here's an example search for peer reviewed psychology journal results in the catalog.  (To verify if a journal is peer reviewed or not, we recommend learning more in this FAQ)

If you click on a result, it will list the databases which hold content for that title under "Access Online"  in the record. This video shows you what that looks like (no audio):

You can limit to relevant databases by subject to get this relevant list. If you do not have a journal title you want to search through in mind, you might get a recommendation from your instructor, a librarian, or search the internet for popular psychology titles and then, once you have a journal title, you can find out which TCC Library database holds coverage for it using the Journal Title Finder at the top of this page. Keep in mind, some databases only have coverage for certain years or there may be embargos. Below is a recommendation on where to start if you do not have a specific journal in mind.

APA PsycArticles is a great database for finding articles on topics in psychology. It includes tools to limit the methodology used in an article. For APA PsycArticles, it is recommended that you use the methodology filter, which can be found in the Advanced Search options.

Try using keywords to begin your search, then use the methodology limiters if you aren't getting enough articles containing experiments.

To access this database:

1. From the library's homepage, head to our A-Z Database List
2. Click on A (for APA) or simply limit the list to Psychology databases using the Subjects drop-down menu, and look for APA PsycArticles.

There are other databases that may contain articles from peer reviewed psychology journals as well. You might try Academic Search Premier (Ebscohost) and Curriculum Essentials (Ebscohost), in addition to APA PsycArticles (ProQuest).
