This is a complex research topic that will take a little time to work through.  Be prepared to set aside a couple of hours to research your question.

For this particular kind of question, you have a few article databases to start your search on dependence on technology.  See below a list of starting databases from the library's Articles & Databases link on the website which you can use to find articles on your topic:

Academic Search Premier (EBSCOhost) - A general database with plenty of journals on technology

Opposing Viewpoints - Gale in Context - A reference database that can provide an overview of a topic and then provide links to other types of sources, including articles from newspapers, magazines, and journals, as well as audio and video clips.

JSTOR  - includes 7 databases with full-text scholarly journal articles, covering a wide range of topics, including humanities, sciences, social sciences and more.

Once you pick a database, use a keyword search for your topic using a variety of synonym combinations.  For example, you could try searching using the following keywords:

  • "technology dependence"
  • "technology dependency"
  • "internet dependence" (more specific)
